Those were the words of the philanthropist Collen Mashawana.
The well-known businessman and philanthropist will receive an honorary doctorate degree of philosophy from the University of South Africa (Unisa) for his exceptional dedication to promoting social justice, an invaluable contribution to society.
The 43-year-old founded The Collen Mashawana Foundation, one of the top charitable organisations in South Africa in 2012, and has played a significant role in helping those in need across the country by offering them shelter, assistance and basic supplies.
Upon receiving this news, Mashawana expressed his heartfelt gratitude.

He told Daily Sun: “I am deeply humbled by this honour from Unisa. It stands as a reminder that the work we do for the betterment of others leaves a lasting impact.
“This recognition belongs to all who have supported our mission to uplift and empower the most vulnerable in our society.
Mashawana made it his mission to build houses for the less fortunate. His current project is the renovation of former president Nelson Mandela's house in Houghton, Joburg, which he started in March 2024 and is due for completion on 18 July 2024, on Tata's birthday and Mandela Day.
The event took place on Thursday, 18 April at 6pm at the ZK Matthews Hall in the Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Building on the university's main campus in Tshwane.
