FIVE Tshwane senior officials have been found guilty in the controversial tender case involving the Rooiwal Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The tender was previously associated with a company linked to corruption-accused businessman Edwin Sodi.
The City of Tshwane has placed the fingered officials on precautionary suspension following a year-long internal disciplinary process.
According to Tshwane spokesman Selby Bokaba, the city issued the five officials with an intended letter of suspension on Wednesday, 18 April, and were afforded an opportunity to made representation on why they should not be suspended.

“A final determination was made yesterday (Friday, 19 April) to place them on precautionary suspension with full pay,” Bokaba said.
According to Bokaba, the officials were charged for gross negligence, dereliction of duty and that their conduct subsequently led to a breach of various legislations, policies and codes of conduct.
He said while the city is aware of the disciplinary board chairman to recommend a sanction of suspension for a month without pay, it however is disappointed and disagree with the chairman's findings and sought legal opinion on the matter.
Tshwane City manager Johann Mettler said the city decided to suspend the employees on full pay, pending a review of the ruling, in light of the nature and severity of the charges, together with the fact that the trust relationship has broken down irretrievably.
