Bullets fly outside court!

accreditation

TWO men were shot and wounded right outside court on Wednesday 7 August.

The men, both aged 21, were shot in broad daylight outside the Durban Magistrates Court.

One of the men was wounded on the left leg just above the ankle while the second was hit in the left arm.

Stray bullets hit a third person inside the building, who was wounded in the left leg.

According to several witnesses, a vehicle stopped in the road and gunshots suddenly rang out. A witness who was sitting right outside the court said some people fell to the floor while others ran towards the court entrance.

The two men who were shot outside also ran into the building and collapsed inside.

KZN police spokeswoman Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo confirmed the incident. She said the court was closed while police investigated attempted murder cases.

“Police were called to the Durban Magistrates Court where two men were walking towards the court when unknown men opened fire from a vehicle,” she said.

Ngcobo said the men were rushed to hospital for medical attention.

“It was also discovered that a court official was hit by a stray bullet and sustained injuries to the thigh. The motive for the attack is unknown,” she said.
