RESIDENTS of Saldanha Bay in the Western Cape are terrified after cops discovered blood-stained clothes and sheets near the home of the missing girl, Joslin Smith (6).
This follows two weeks of the search for the grade one pupil from the Diazville area who went missing on 19 January.
Speaking to Daily Sun, a resident Anna Johnson(40) said residents ran to the scene after the gruesome discovery.
“The bloody sheets and clothes were in a bag in a secluded area not far away from Joslin’s home. Police took those things, and we suspect it may be the blood of Joslin. Everyone is now worried about whether the little Joslin is still alive,” she said.
Joslin’s mother and the boyfriend also went to the scene after the clothes were discovered. On the day she went missing, Joslin was not feeling well and hadn’t gone to school.

Her mum Kelly Smith (33) allegedly left the girl in the care of her boyfriend Jacquin Appollis as she went to work.
When she returned home, both the boyfriend and her daughter were not at home. The boyfriend later returned but told Kelly that he left Joslin at home playing with other kids at the time he went out.
Western Cape police spokeswoman Brigadier Novela Potelwa confirmed that cops had discovered some items.
“Items found during a search over the weekend have been sent to the Plattekloof forensic laboratory for analysis as part of the investigation.
“A humble plea is hereby made by the South African Police Service investigators to members of the public to refrain from spreading false information on social media and desist from recording the searches as this may adversely impact the investigation. The primary focus of the co-ordinated efforts should be to find Joslin or what happened to her,” said Potelwa.
