PARENTS in Tshwane are gatvol as their kids' school has been without a permanent principal for five years.
They approached the Transformation Alliance (TTA), urging the party to help them.
Mpho Baloyi, the party's Tshwane regional chairman, told Daily Sun they had stepped in after receiving a complaint from parents at Baxoxele Primary School in Soshanguve block GG.
"We were informed that the parents wrote a letter of grievance to the Department of Education's Tshwane North District last June, and to date, there hasn't been a solution. There are just endless promises," said Baloyi.
He said parents have been pleading for a permanent principal to be appointed as this has been interfering with the daily operations of the school.
When schools opened on 17 January, Baxoxele pupils were unable to be placed in classes because the school administration had reportedly not made the necessary arrangements.
Frustrated parents were seen standing at the gate, not knowing which classes their children would be placed in.
Baloyi said TTA would write to the district, asking for information and a swift conclusion.

Furthermore, he said a parent delegation was entrusted with meeting with the school institutional development and support officer of the school as well as the district director and Reitgat station commander to discuss a solution.
Tshwane North District, with parents and the school governing body, held a special meeting on 24 January, to try to find a solution.
Nelly Mkhize, a resident of Soshanguve Block GG, expressed concern that school pupils were badly affected by the situation.
"There is not enough furniture and stationery at the school. Other children still need books and stationery. We really need an urgent intervention Asap," she told Daily Sun.
Gauteng education spokesman Steve Mabone said the department is aware of the situation at the school.
He said the school was without a principal following the former principal's medical retirement.
"The two newly appointed deputy principals served for 12-month terms on a rotational basis. It should be mentioned that the position was posted, and the recruitment process proceeded correctly. However, there were grievances filed, and the procedure had to be redone," said Mabona.
