Ayanda Allie has joined Bosa.

FORMER journalist and government spokeswoman Ayanda Allie has joined Build One South Africa (Bosa).

The party announced Allie's move on Tuesday, 15 January.

Spokesman Roger Solomons said Allie will serve as the party’s communications director, as well as an aspirant candidate for parliament representing Soweto.

“Ayanda joins a growing list of young professionals and active citizens who are joining Bosa to serve their community and their country to usher in a new government following 2024 elections,” he said.

He said the former spokeswoman for the transport ministry also excelled as a radio and television broadcaster on platforms such as the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), Talk Radio 702 and eNews Channel Africa (eNCA).

She has a BA in communication science, a BA in community development, honours degree in development studies and a master's degree in public administration.

“A committed activist at heart and in practice, Ayanda is the founder of Bukho Bami Youth Centre, an afterschool care project which provides academic assistance to teenagers in under-resourced communities.

"More recently, in her continued passion for social justice, Ayanda embarked last year on a new journey as a recording artist under the name Ms. Allie, releasing a music album titled: ‘We The People’, which is a call for active citizenry. She also became an author, publishing her book: ‘How To Save A Life – Reflections Of A Change Agent’, also in 2023,” said Solomons.

Allie, who is also a Mandela Washington Fellow and Poynter Institute for Media Studies Fellow, formed part of the Mail & Guardian’s Top 200 Young South Africans.

She is also an ambassador for Pandora’s Love South Africa charm, one of the leading ladies for the Hyundai Creta Light the Way campaign, is a Trustee for the Spur Foundation, and was a sessional lecturer at the Wits School of Governance.

“Ayanda is a natural fit for Bosa. Her work in Soweto has been admirable. South Africa could use her passion, experience and knowledge which is undergirded by her strong commitment to justice. I and the many other builders who have rolled up their sleeves to build this country welcome her to the family” said Bosa leader Mmusi Maimane.
