POLITICAL parties are already gearing up for the final voter registration weekend which is set to take place on Saturday, 3 and Sunday, 4 February 2024.

Build One South Africa (Bosa) in Limpopo held its workshop and strategic meeting on Wednesday, 20 December in Polokwane to prepare and pave a way forward ahead of the registration weekend.

Facilitated by the party’s national spokesman, Rodger Solomons, the meeting was attended by the provincial leadership, including regional leaders and candidates.

They set targets to achieve in order to gather support heading to the general elections. Solomons said they've noted the challenges affecting the province’s membership drive, recruiting members and resources.

"We have made plans which we want to achieve for the next five weeks ahead of the voter registration weekend. The national leadership will also be back afterwards to see what we have managed to achieve and map a way forward," he said.

The provincial leadership and over 20 candidates were urged to work hard on the ground in order to make sure that they reach their set targets.

“We need to put more work on what we have been doing in order to achieve our targets. There is nothing broken in Limpopo, just some tweaking only,” said Solomons.

This will be the first time the party will be contesting to get into municipalities and the provincial legislature in 2024.

Provincial leader Timothy Maluleke said their aim is to take over Limpopo government from the hands of the ANC.

“We won’t celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve because our people are suffering. People are poor and they don’t have jobs and water while other politicians live lavish lives. We will run a corruption-free government once we take over,” he said.

First provincial coordinator, Geoffrey Tshibvumo said they will deliver as they have confidence.

“We will deliver on the plans and commitments that were made,” he said.

One of the candidates, Benjamin Rasehlapa (29) said they want to get into government so they can empower unemployed youth who go to bed on empty stomachs.
