PRESIDENT Cyril Ramaphosa must send soldiers to shoot zama zamas.
This was the message to Ramaphosa from ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula when he welcomed former EFF members at Wedela in Carletonville, Gauteng on Sunday, 10 December.
He said the illegal miners, better known as zama zamas, were part of the agenda to sabotage the government.
“That's why we say to our president bring the army on the ground. They must leave their barracks where they stay. They must come out and shoot these zama zamas because we don't have guns,” he said.
Mbalula said things like transformers were vandalised every day in the townships.
He urged the newly joined members to protect the infrastructure in their areas.
Former EFF chief whip in Merafong Municipality Sarah Kahn was fired from the party because she failed to provide a bus to the FNB stadium for the EFF’s 10th-anniversary celebrations in July.

“When the EFF said I must go, it was painful. But now I rejoice that I have gone back to my roots,” she said.
She claimed her life was hell in the EFF because she wasn't allowed to have a voice.
“Since I joined the EFF, I've been belittled so much. In the EFF, if you have a voice, there is a problem. In EFF, you have to agree to everything and anything,” Sarah said.
The single mum of four said she was happy to be back in the ANC.
“I’m very happy where I am now. Nobody forced me. Nobody came to tell me what to do. It’s my own decision,” she said.
Former EFF PR councillor Khayalakhe Nabiso said serving under the EFF was a struggle.
Khayalakhe said since he joined the party in 2016, there was never a time when he enjoyed what he was doing, especially in 2021.
He was also axed for failing to provide buses for members to the stadium.
Khayalakhe said: “They were unfair. They know we do not have money. Where did they expect us to get money for three buses. While we were busy with community issues and organisational matters, we were expected to get buses. When they decided to fire us, we decided to go back to the ANC. I came with 226 members who also joined the ANC.”
