HUNDREDS of people marched in Rustenburg to demand change after battling water shortages for more than 10 years.
They were joined by ANC members in their march to the Magalies Water offices in Rustenburg, North West, on Thursday, 7 March, to demand an uninterrupted water supply and clean water.
According to the memorandum of demands, they want a plan on how to solve the short fall of water supply in Rustenburg.
The residents also demanded a plan on how the Rustenburg Local Municipality will address the brown water supplied to communities.
They threatened to stage a sit-in at the Magalies Water offices if their demands were not met within seven days.
Residents of Rustenburg said they've been battling water issues for more than 10 years and rely on buying water as they can go weeks without access to water on their taps.
"It's been years that we've been struggling with water. We have engaged relevant authorities, but nothing is helping," said Dimakatso Malla from Phatsima.

Dimakatso said water shortages are affecting them badly.
"It affects our health as hygiene is compromised. We can't continue to live without a basic need. We use water on a daily basis. She said sometimes the water only comes at night and it's dirty.
ANC head of media and communication in Rustenburg, Terry Bogopane, said the march's purpose was to demand uninterrupted and clean water from Magalies.
He said they also demand that when there is interpretation, residents must be informed in time.
Bogopane said that for the past three, they have been urging Magalies to supply water consistently.
"We have tried all other available channels to engage them. The march was our last resort," he said.
CEO of Magalies Water Sandile Mkhize accepted the protesters' memorandum.
Mkhize said they would give feedback within the seven days given to them.
