ANC KZN secretary Bheki Mtolo has slammed former president Jacob Zuma for spreading lies about the ruling party.

THE African National Congress (ANC) KZN secretary, Bheki Mtolo, has come out to slam former president Jacob Zuma.

This after being quiet for some time since the uMkhonto Wesizwe (MK) party was launched in December 2023.

Mtolo claimed MK party is for the benefit of Zuma's family.

“No one should be faulted for thinking that Zuma believes that if it’s not the ANC, uMkhonto Wesizwe is the next property that should benefit his family. It’s for this reason, together with his daughter, they have appropriated the name of uMkhonto Wesizwe for their own personal selfish benefit,” he said.

He also called out Zuma to stop allegedly lying by claiming that ANC support started declining when President Cyril Ramaphosa took office.

Mtolo said, in fact, the ANC showed a major decline under Zuma’s leadership, and they even lost a few metros under his leadership.

“As the conveyers of truth, we wish to remind Zuma that the ANC started to lose support under him as president of the ANC. This decline started in 2009, taking the ANC away from the two-thirds majority it gained in the 2004 elections. Then this decline has been there since, including the 2016 Local Government Elections where he was still president of the ANC where we lost many metros,” said Mtolo.

He said Zuma must stop being selective with information because all his excuses have no evidence, including the one in which he claims the ruling party is expelling leaders without following proper channels.

Mtolo said this is false. Even when Zuma was a leader of the ANC, the ANC expelled many members, including prominent members such as Julius Malema.

“Then for Zuma to now cry like a helpless individual on the expulsion of members who commit serious misconduct is not only false but exposes how far he can go to mislead society only to serve his personal interests,” said Mtolo.

He said that the true MK and the entire mass democratic movement fought for the majority of the people of this country to vote for the government of their choice.

“We must double our efforts to ensure that future generations inherit an intact alliance that will remain an instrument for their total liberation politically, socially and economically. Our message is that leaders will come and go, but the ANC will remain,” said Mtolo.

MK party is currently busy with its motorcade across the province and is expected to have its rally in Durban on Sunday, 28 January, and a national motorcade on Saturday, 14 January.

Currently, the MK party has no structure elected, including a spokesperson.
