ACTIONSA will do away with deputy ministers and reduce national departments to 20.
ActionSA president Herman said this on Monday, 11 March, when he announced “Team Fix South Africa” in Ferndale, Joburg.
He said he'd reduce the number of national government departments to about 20 and eliminate deputy ministers.
“Given the mandate to govern, an ActionSA administration would reduce the number of national government departments to approximately 20 and eliminate the positions of deputy ministers in all departments."
He said he'd also reduce the benefits ministers receive, including excessive catering and travel allowances, slash the budget for VIP protection and ensure that ministers are always transparent to Mzansi people.
He emphasised that the benefits of ministers should be slashed before any other budgetary cuts as Mzansi is facing fiscal constraints and a cost of living crisis.
Mashaba said, unlike other political parties who fill seats with party loyalists who would never be hired in the private sector, ActionSA decided to go with skills.
Mashaba said: “Our candidates were selected following a gruelling process that saw people from outside politics putting up their hands to take action to build a better country for our people.
“They bring with them the level of skills and expertise needed for ActionSA to turn around the decay that took place under the ruling party and restore South Africa to a path to prosperity."

Mashaba said the individuals of “Team Fix South Africa” have already served in private and public for many years and were ready to take that contribution further.
Among his cabinet members are the party’s Eastern Cape premier candidate, Athol Trollip, its chairman Michael Beaumont, political commentator Solly Moeng and Dr Kgosi Letlape.
Letlape is the founder of the Africa Medical Association and has served as the president of the HPCSA and the chairman of the South African Medical Association.
Mashaba said the selected individuals would ensure ActionSA hits the ground running.
"We will not engage in cadre deployment, nepotism and cronyism. We will only appoint people on merit and impeccable track records with a commitment to clean governance and service delivery," he said.
