AFRICAN Congress Transformation (ACT) leader Ace Magashule has also opened a common assault and crimen injuria against Ndade Moletsane at the Bothaville cop shop on Monday, 21 January.

According to sources close to the case, Moletsane attacked Magashule while they were seated at the back of a van with T-shirts. The alleged suspect was apparently angered by Magashule and threw a T-shirt at Magashule's face, then started to swear at him using vulgar language and claimed that the ward they were at belonged to the ANC.

“As Magashule ignored him, Moletsane allegedly took out a knife, but luckily Magashule’s bodyguards intervened and protected Magashule from being stabbed by the suspect,” said the source.

The source said the suspect showed up from nowhere already swearing at Magashule and got very angry when Magashule ignored him.

“He then threw the T-shirt straight to Magashule’s face,” said the source.

Free State police spokesman Captain Stephen Thakeng said police can confirm that a 65-year-old well-known politician, registered a case of common assault and crimen injuria.

According to Thakeng, the incident occurred during a political party campaign involving a convoy of 15 vehicles distributing T-shirts to residents in Makoko Drive in Meloding, Free State.

“The suspect got a t-shirt, then threw it back on the face of this politician and started to swear at him using vulgar language (utterance of his mother’s private parts)," he said.

Thakeng said the case will be transferred to Meloding, whereby a thorough investigation will be conducted.

"The suspect is a 44-year-old man who also registered a case against this well-known politician," he said.

Daily Sun tried numerous times to obtain comments from ACT communicators and Magashule, but they did not respond to media inquiries at the time of publishing.
