A HOUSE on 31 Loots Avenue in Blairgowrie, Randburg has gone up in flames.
The incident happened on Tuesday morning, 12 March.
The Daily Sun, which is two streets away from the incident, rushed to the scene and was greeted by a cloud of smoke billowing into the air. The fire spread rapidly and spread to nearby trees.
Witnesses kept shouting: "Call the police, call the emergency services."
A witness told Daily Sun: "I had just got out of the taxi to go to the doctor [one street away from the fire]. Suddenly there was a fire that got bigger and bigger. I thought the firefighters would be here any minute, but they did not respond to the scene of the fire. I have been here for 40 minutes."
He said did not know what caused the fire, but he was sure that it was a house on fire. His biggest fear was that the fire would spread quickly and sooner, or later other houses would also go up in flames.

A woman who lives near the burning house was almost in tears as part of her house was also affected by the fire.
"The fire had spread to our property and my house is about to go down in flames and nobody is coming to assist us to kill the fire. I don't know how it started but I'm sure it started an hour ago," the woman said before rushing back into her house to somewhat assess the situation.
Meanwhile Mpoi Moshesa, the owner of Manelisi security services a building just next to the burning house, said she rushed to the scene after her employee who was working heard a load sound.

"I rushed here because she was alone. She told me that she heard a loud bang and that there was a fire. We don't know how the fire started. My biggest concern was her safety because she was alone inside," Mpoi said.
Joburg Emergency Management Services spokesman Robert Mulaudzi said firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after 9.30am to find a back room ablaze, fortunately there were no casualties.
"The fire has been extinguished and fire safety officials are on the scene investigating the cause of the fire," he said.
