THREE boys from Wattville in Ekurhuleni couldn't resist the heat on Saturday, 10 February.

So they decided to go swimming to cool off.

Two of them came back out, but the other didn't.

When they saw that their friend was taking his time to come out, they went home to report the matter to their parents.

Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo of the Gauteng police said an investigation was launched after an 11-year-old child drowned in stagnant water while swimming in Wattville, Ekurhuleni, on Saturday, 10 February.

"It is reported that the children were swimming in stagnant water when one of them disappeared in the water.

Masondo said a police search and rescue team was called to the scene and recovered the victim's body.
