TWO friends died and one was injured after they were shot at by several unknown gunmen driving a white taxi.
Mojalefa Morobi (34), Mokete Tsotetsi (25) and Lerato Kgwaele (19) were shot while walking home after leaving a tavern at Lakeside in Orange Farm, south of Joburg, on Sunday, 16 October
Mokete died instantly, Mojalefa died while waiting for an ambulance and Lerato escaped with gunshot wounds.
Thabang Morobi (22) said on his way to the tavern where his uncle had been drinking, he saw a white taxi without a registration number coming towards him. Then it turned around and when he arrived at the tavern, he saw it parked outside but he did not think much of it.
Thabang said his uncle told him that he was moving to another tavern and minutes later, when he was on his way home, he was stopped by people alerting him that his uncle had just been shot.
When he arrived at the scene, witnesses told him that a group of gunmen driving the taxi opened fire on his uncle and friends, and one escaped.
Dimakatso Morobi (69) said he last saw his son on Sunday morning, asking him to buy her groceries and he told her that he did not have money as he was going to pay out a fridge.
She said she had lost her breadwinner, and he did not deserve to die like that.
