WHENEVER I felt like crying, I read the Book of Psalms in the Bible for strength.
These were the words of Mamello Moloi, who survived Covid-19.
The 23-year-old from Ramoshibitswana Village in the North West, said she was grateful to be able to tell her story and inspire others to defeat the virus.
She said she tested positive for the virus in July after someone close to her also tested positive.
“I was shocked when I got the news. I panicked for a moment, then reminded myself that I shouldn’t let fear derail me from treating it,” she said.
As she did not have any symptoms, Mamello said she gargled with salt water twice a day, steamed with Vapo Rub and ate oranges daily for vitamin C.
“I also sat in the sun for 15 to 20 minutes daily.
“On day five of isolation, I started to feel a change in my body and slowly gained my strength,” she said.
Mamello said this experience has taught her that it is an individual’s responsibility to maintain good hygiene.
“I am grateful for the support I got during this difficult time. I am thankful to everyone who was strong for me and stood with me throughout.
“I encourage people to continue following precautionary measures. Covid-19 is not over yet. Let’s continue to wear masks. Let’s do it for ourselves and those around us,” she said.
