N’WA Jika The Poet Phyembye Ra Africa has been awarded as the Best Poet 2021/2022 at the Collins Chabane Night of Fame First Annual Awards.
The award ceremony was held at Malamulele Community Hall in Malamulele in Limpopo on 27 March.
The 32-year-old from Madobi Village, whose real name is Hlayisani Shiburi, specialises in Tsonga poems.
“I could not believe it when I was announced as the winner. My dream is to one day scoop an international award.
“I’m a poet, author, actress and professional electrician with a trade test. I use poetic moves to inspire and uplift the spirit of the young and old,” she said.
N’wa Jika said this is the third award she has won since she discovered her gift for poetry in 2020.
“I look forward to winning big awards.
“All in all I would like to thank the Almighty God for the gift he gave me. I thank my parents for their support, especially my mum, Mhani Lovisa. No words could describe how much I love her,” she said.
