PLAYWRIGHT Chris Q Hadebe has bid farewell to former actress, Ama Qamata.
She played Buhle Ndaba on Gomora, a daughter of Thathi Ndaba. Buhle was recently shot and killed last week which marked her permanent exit.
Chris Q have since penned a heartfelt message, praising Ama for her acting skills.
He wrote: “I left Gomora a couple of months ago, but it remains my favourite local show. So I was just as emotional as the next viewer when I saw Buhle’s tragic, untimely death on Friday.
“Earlier this year, I walked past the make-up room at the studio and I saw Ama being prepared for her next scene. She’s one of the loveliest people you’ll ever meet, so I couldn’t resist stopping by for a chat. I told her I was mad at her for leaving, because her departure was ruining all the plans I had for season 3. ‘I’m sorry,’ she smiled. ‘So, are you gonna kill her?’”

“I’m tempted to,’ I replied, avoiding eye contact, because even though I was really mad at her, that smile is totally disarming. I’m such a fan of hers. As soon as I started talking about some of my favourite scenes she’d been in, I completely forgot about all the challenges that were going to come with her exit,” he wrote.
“Anyone who knows my scripts will tell you I write very lean dialogue. I’m very intentional about every single word I put down, because people, as a rule, are extremely careful about what they say and how they say it, as evidenced by this scene. I’m sure you can hear what Buhle is saying, even though she’s saying something else with her mouth. And you can tell by their performance that these two amazing actors know exactly what it is they’re saying.
“Very few actors can play subtext as well as this incredible young lady. So, even though I’m heartbroken that I’ll never see her on Gomora again, I remain a huge fan and I have absolutely no doubt that she’s headed for bigger and greater things. @amaqamata you are greatness. I feel enormously honoured and abundantly blessed to have had the opportunity to work with you. My plan now is to work as hard as I possibly can to give myself another chance. Until then, I’ll be watching from the sidelines, doing my best to pretend I’m not jealous of whoever’s writing for you,” he added.
“Before I go, let’s play a little game, shall we? Take a second and look over at the horizon. Are you looking? Good. Now imagine everything you’ve ever wished for yourself. Do you see it? Multiply it by the world. That’s my dream for you.”
