THE LATE actor, Shona Ferguson, will be honoured with the new season of the Netflix show, Kings of Joburg.
Shona died in 2021 due to Covid-19-related complications.
AND ACCORDING TO HIS WIDOW AND BUSINESS PARTNER, CONNIE, HE GOT SICK JUST BEFORE THEY WENT INTO PRE-PRODUCTION.
But she said she’s happy production is finally done and ready for the world to see.
Connie (52), who will also be part of the new season, said: “It has been a long time coming for us.
“Shona was still a big part of season two and just before we went into pre-production, he got sick and we lost the biggest part of us.
“And I think it was important for us as a team to continue his legacy.
“It took longer than what we expected.

“But I think it was important for us to observe the time to deal with what we had to deal with and to come back stronger and honour him in the best way possible.”
She said they wanted to release season two last year but couldn’t.
“We know people have been waiting.
“We wanted season two to come out last year, but that didn’t happen.
“But we finally did it and we’re here.
“We’re back with an action-filled season two,” she said.
“We are super proud of the show.
“We’d love for people to watch it and enjoy it with us,” she said.
In an interview with Newzroom Afrika On Saturday, Connie said she thought her husband would make a full recovery and would not die.
Thembi Seete, who plays Keneilwe on the series, said they will honour Shona this season.
“Season two will have a lot of action and surprises.

“Working alongside this beautiful queen (Connie) was refreshing.
“We also captured moments with Shona and gave him respect and honour.
“We all went through a lot of pain when Shona passed and we’ll get to show a bit of that in the film.
“I’m sure people will relate,” she said.
She said her character got to work alongside Connie a lot and she enjoyed it.
“My character is the heart of the family.
“She’s the one that felt more pain with Simon passing away and she’s fighting to keep the family together.
“My character has a lot of scenes with Veronica, played by Connie, and I love working with her,” said Thembi.

Another actor, Lunathi Mampofu, who plays Zaza, said: “We did season two to show our love for Mr Sho.” We did it with respect for him and the amount of time he put into this show to make it so successful.”
Kings of Joburg season two also stars Zolisa Xaluva, Thapelo Mokoena, Cindy Mahlangu, Buhle Samuels, TK Sebothoma, as well as Altovise Lawrence.
The series premieres on Netflix on 27 January.
