AMAZULU FC striker Bongi "Mdeva" Ntuli has been laid to rest.

AmaZulu FC players, AmaZulu FC boss Sandile Zungu, who is also Bongi’s father-in-law, were among the people who attended the funeral held at The African Congregational Church in Cliffdale, KZN.

Bongi Ntuli, who was married to AmaZulu FC CEO Sinenjabulo Zungu, died on Sunday, 5 November, two months after their white wedding.

Ntuli lost the war against an aggressive cancer and died in hospital.

Bongi’s friend Ayanda Jali described Ntuli as a person who loved people and took care of those who were close to him.

“He was not my friend as people say, but he was my brother. He used to go with me to AmaZulu FC games.

"He used to let me drive his cars and give me his keys for his homes. Our friendship was more than a friendship,” he said.

Bongi’s father Thulani Ntuli said they still couldn’t believe that Bongi was no more because he didn’t show signs that he was critically ill.

“He was alright, and he didn’t give us a chance to help him when he was diagnosed with cancer. We were hoping that he would recover soon. But now my son is no more. I have to let him go,” he said.
