WACHA Mkhukhu Wachumlilo is set to lead a day of prayer in Pitori.

The ZCC gospel group will be visiting the area to perform their hit songs at the State Theatre in Tshwane on 3 June.

Wacha Mkhukhu Wachumlilo, formed by the late Charles Nkosana Kodi and Lucas Mojeremane Xale in 2005, has stood the test of time since the deaths of the two founders.

Some of their greatest songs include Modimo Wa Bo Engenas, Helele Helele, Modula Sione Ore Utlwe, and Halalelong Tsa Hao.

Neo Kodi, manager of the group, said the event is aimed at seeking God’s intervention following the devastating effects of COVID-19.

“It is not a show, but prayer. In December, we turned the Thobela FM gospel event into a mass prayer, and we are now taking that to Pretoria to invite God again to intervene and change our lives for the better,” says Kodi.

The event will feature acts such as Winnie Mashaba, Wachumlilo Family, Paul K, Nkabinde Brothers, as well as Lebohang Rakosa.

The group recently released a 15-track album titled Ba Ya Mo Nyatsa.

The album boasts the young but powerful voices of Kago Molefe (15) and Paul Kgokane (24), who hit the notes like seasoned artists, alongside Paul K Kganyago as a guest artist.

Wachumlilo production director Lesiba Movalo said the future is bright for the two youngsters.

“This is the youngest duet in the history of this genre, and they will be the youngest artists ever to make a live recording at the State Theatre. There is no denying that the future is shining bright for the two youngsters and the group itself,” Movalo said.

Kago and Paul told SunBuzz that they aim to keep the traditional gospel music as is the character of Wacha Mkhukhu.

"From a very young age, I listened to artists like Nkosana, Mojeremane and Oleseng. They always motivated me to do music," said Kago.

Paul said he is also from a family that loves music.

"In my area, there is a guy called Andries Zonzi. He loves music and inspired me. I used to be part of his group, Zonzi and the Hot Boys."
