WEDDING bells are ringing for Umkhokha: The Curse actor Kininonke "Kini" Shandu.

The SABC1 Daily Thetha presenter will do umembeso (traditional exchange of gifts) and umkhehlo (traditional engagement) on the same day to his lover, Andile Khanyile.

The ceremony will be at Andile’s home in Nongoma, KZN, on Sunday, 24 December, where many TV presenters and prominent people will attend, wearing traditional clothing.

Kini, who plays Ndlovu on Umkhokha: The Curse, paid lobola for Andile in April.

The 38-year-old multi-talented actor and businessman from eNseleni outside Richard Bay told Daily Sun that he dated Andile for two years.

“I realised that she's the one who deserved to be my wife because our Shembe church leader, Inkosi Unyazi Shembe, told us about our wives in the Shembe church.

“Andile is part of the Shembe church and everything during the ceremony will be done according to Shembe church and Zulu culture as it will also be her umemulo on the someday,” he said.

Kini, a former Gagasi FM presenter, said he's happy to be officially off the market, and from Sunday, he will be counted among men who have wives.

“Sunday, 24 December, will be a big day for me as I will do all I can to show the Khanyile family that I’m serious about their daughter.

“After that I will wait for them to indicate when they are ready to give me a date for the actual wedding. But in the meantime, they're the ones who should take care of their daughter making sure she is not interrupted on her way to our marriage."

He told Daily Sun that he expects people to dress traditionally, especially Zulu attire, on Sunday.
