UMKHOKHA: The Curse actress Mapule "Indlovukazi" Ngobese has learnt many things in a short space since 2021.
She appeared on many Mzansi top TV series, including Imbewu: The Seed, Uzalo, Durban Gen and Gomora.
Now the actress from Durban has written theatre plays and directed a new film.
She's the director of a new film against GBV, titled Wounded Souls.
The film will be screened at Cinecentre at Suncoast cinema on Saturday, 28 October.
Mapule, a former managing director at Mbongeni Ngema Academy, told Daily Sun that she looks forward to being a director and being in front of the cameras.
“This is the second film I directed. I directed The Spirit in 2021. I’m looking forward to more.
“I've learnt many directing tips from legendary director Mbongeni Ngema. I'm continuing to learn more because I want to deliver the best,” she said.

The author and pastor said their film aims to fight GBV and make people remember their culture.
“We live in a country where many people are wounded, and the challenge is that those who are wounded, wound others.
“If we don’t act now and fight GBV, we might end up all wounded and living in a toxic place. I’m happy that the film will be screened at Suncoast. I want it to change people’s mindset about GBV and culture,” she said.
The GBV activist recently created a theatre play called Omama Amahlobisi Bomhlaba.
The play, directed by Mbongeni, was staged at Playhouse in August to fight GBV and social ills.
Mapule also has an organisation to fight GBV called Esigodlweni Sendlovukazi, which she formed in 2017.
