UKHOZI FM's business manager, Sbongi Ngcobo has successfully obtained a five-year protection order against former SABC Summer Song creator, Owen Ndlovu.

Ndlovu plans to appeal the decision, claiming it was made in his absence due to illness, and intends to prove his ill health to the court.

The Randburg Magistrates Court granted the protection order on Tuesday, 23 April, in Ndlovu's absence.

Daily Sun has obtained a copy of the order.

Ngcobo applied for the protection order in January 2024 following Owen's damaging posts on his Facebook page, where he accused her of corruption and exploiting both listeners and musicians.

The order, which is valid until 2029, prohibits Ndlovu from threatening, intimidating, harassing Ngcobo, making false statements, posting defamatory messages, pictures, and videos on social media, insulting, communicating with, or following Ngcobo.

On Wednesday, 24 April, Ndlovu, accompanied by his lawyer, visited the court to inquire about reasons behind the granting of the protection order to Ngcobo.

Ndlovu, who is determined to appeal the decision, said: "Ngcobo will have to attend court for five years because I won't let her get away with my concept and my money.

"This will end in the Constitutional Court. I'm not harassing or defaming her. I'm stating facts. She took my money in 2017, and I want it back."

Ndlovu had a contract with the public broadcaster from 2016 to 2019 for the SABC Summer Song, where he managed the voting lines for Ukhozi FM's year-end Top 10.

However, in 2017, Ngcobo opted for different SMS voting lines for the year-end voting, resulting in Ndlovu's loss.

The conflict between Ndlovu and Ngcobo became public after Ukhozi FM decided not to renew Ndlovu's contract for the year-end Top 10 voting system, known as Ingoma Ehlukanisa Unyaka.

Ndlovu has demanded that Ukhozi cease using his voting concept, which he claims to have originated.

Ngcobo told Daily Sun that being employed means that one is answerable to higher powers and governed by certain polices and general rules.

“I’m no different. Mr Ndlovu has tried to paint me as someone who is a law unto themselves which is untrue.

“After Mr Ndlovu lost his case against the SABC he decided to launch a personal attack against me which resulted in him spreading lies, insults and basic slander against me and my good name. He seems to take my silence as an admission of guilt, but truth be told he has never brought any of his complaints/accusations directly to me but opted to run to social media to spread lies,” she said.
