UKHOZI FM listeners were relieved when they heard presenter DJ Bheka “Beekay” Mchunu on air on Saturday, 15 October.

Bheka shocked many when he was attacked by a strange illness a few minutes before starting his show, Sigiya Ngengoma, last week.

Lucky Nkosi, who had just finished hosting his morning show, Ulozolo, had to step in for Bheka.

Although Bheka had recovered and was energetic on Saturday, his colleagues, Sphongo Dladla and Mdonso Ngcobo, teased him, saying he still needed a drip.

Listeners took to the Ukhozi FM Facebook page to share their relief that Bheka is back on air.

Dalokwakhe Dalo wrote: “I hope Mchunu is really back for good because last week he just went off air.”

Hlekihlomelene Nombuso wrote: “Mchunu, you’re invincible although they attacked you with many spears, but you’re still standing.”

An inside source said the staff was also relieved to have Bheka back on air.

“His illness was critical as he was powerless and also experienced shortness of breath, but now he has fully recovered and is good for his show again.

“We’re praying that the illness will not attack him again,” said the insider.

Called for comment, Bheka said he was not allowed to talk to the media.
