THE comedy series, uBettina Wethu is set to replace the canned show, Nikiwe

Season four of the e.tv show premieres on 8 January 2024, while Nikiwe ends on 5 January 2024.

When making the announcement, the channel wrote: “Our girl is back like she never left. The hit light-hearted romcom-melodrama uBettina Wethu is back with its fourth season airing first on e.tv from the 8th of January, filling the 6.30pm slot.”

The new season returns with new faces such as Prince Grootboom known for his roles on Fatal Seduction and 1802: Love Defies Time and actress Amanda Seome.

Prince will play as Xhanti, a 29-year-old undercover rich kid who comes from quiet wealth. His family is a highly politically and business connected family in the Eastern Cape.

Amanda will play Khethiwe “KP” Phakade, the new cool, fresh, vibey threat in the world of digital marketing.

Speaking about the new season, Leo Phiri, head of production at Known Associates Entrainment, said they're excited to bring it to e.tv.

“We're very excited to be bringing this passion project of ours to viewers again and most importantly kickstarting this brand-new season on a high by airing it first and exclusively to e.tv and building on this amazing journey that we have started,” he said.

Nikiwe, which stars Lungelo Mpangase, Israel Matseke Zulu, Clementine Mosimane, Mondli Makhoba, Mpho Sibeko and Soso Rungqu was axed earlier in December. The channel released a statement revealing that it wasn’t delivering good ratings.

“The local prime-time drama on e.tv will be coming to an end early 2024. Unfortunately, the show has not continued to deliver anticipated ratings. The channel continually reviews programmes and storylines to ensure we give our viewers the best local entertainment. Further information regarding the replacement show will be shared soon,” read the statement.
