ARTIST, real estate entrepreneur and community builder TT Mbha will be hosting men for International Men’s Day on Saturday, 19 November, at St Tropez in Sandton, Joburg.

The event called Amatyma presents the Suit-Up Sundowners, Men’s Only Premium Experience where they will be having conversations about Amatyma, creating an environment where attendees will learn about each other and have conversations about the harsh realities men face.

TT Mbha, whose real name is Thato Mbha, has been doing a lot of Corporate Social Investment work this year.

He hosted a successful golf day in September in which he was giving back to the caddies.

The 43-year-old from Soweto has taken it upon himself to rally Amatyma (men and fathers) to speak about wellness issues that affect them.

Men are known to be a species that bottles everything up because society has labelled sensitive men as weak.

TT Mbha, who speaks passionately about fatherhood, told Daily Sun that his aim is to create a safe platform where men can be comfortable and open to talk about the issues they face in their everyday lives.

He said he wants men to have their own events like women do when it’s Women’s Day.

“There are a lot of women’s high teas, forums, conferences, breakfast sessions, gala dinners and awards, but when it comes to International Men’s Day nothing happens.

“International Men’s Day is around the corner and to date, we can count very few events that have been hosted by men for men. When I was conceptualising this event, I really wanted to create a safe platform for men to talk. Men don’t talk and as a result, a lot of things are left unsaid. There are so many events for women on Women’s Day and Mother’s Day, but when it comes to International Men’s Day, there are a few events that cater to men,” he said.

The event will focus on three wellness pillars: physical, mental and financial wellness.

The #AMATYMA wellness network seeks to address the wellness of men in a frank and candid manner.
