MZANSI'S very own is shining in America.
South African-born comedian Trevor Noah's show, The Daily Show, has won an Emmy Award in the Outstanding Talk Series category in America.
The 39-year-old who left Mzansi to pursue his career oorkant has made a name for himself globally and has even hosted the Grammy awards for four years in a row.
Although Trevor left The Daily Show in 2022 after seven seasons, with his final episode airing on 8 December of that year, he was still honoured at the 2023 Emmy Awards, which were delayed due to Hollywood strikes.
He gave a heartfelt speech with his team alongside him.
“I told you we would beat John Oliver if he wasn’t in our category, we did it. We got rid of John Oliver,” he said.
He said he was glad that all his team was coming to join him on stage.

In a behind the scenes interview, the comedian thanked his team, acknowledging their collective effort.
“Congrats guys. Every single one of you, thank you. You know what it is was every single day making this. In the pandemic out of the pandemic and before. Thank you for lunch, the script, jokes, meetings, field trips, thank you for all of it and congratulations,” he said.
South Africans have been flooding social media congratulating Trevor for his win and for making them proud.
Celebrities took also took to social media platforms to send congratulatory messages to him.
