At the Siyabonga Rally held at the Mandlankala Sports Ground in Esikhaleni on Saturday, party president Velenkosini Hlabisa and founder Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi thanked voters for their support. Hlabisa described the recent victory in Umhlathuze as the beginning of the party’s mission to claim KZN back, which they lost to the ANC in 2004.

Artists such as Dladla Mshunqisi, Thobekile, Jumbo, Mabhilidi, Intaba Yase Dubai, Pastor Andile KaMajola, and Imbewu actor Mduduzi Nombela shared the stage with party leaders. Umhlathuze chairman Xolani Ngwezi said: “We are on a mission to win all elections or by-elections because many people have shown us they trust us.”

Buthelezi didn’t attend the rally but delivered a speech virtually. “One month ago, we made history by taking what has always been a stronghold of a certain political party. As the founder of the IFP, I want to thank you, personally, for what you have done to bring change to Mandlankala,” he said.

Maskandi artist Mabhilidi said that he was happy the IFP gave artists the opportunity to entertain people at the rally.
