THE sudden death of comedian Lebogang "Aus Velemina" Ledwaba (30) has shocked his fans.

Aus Velemina, who was an artist, MC, and a TikTok influencer, died on Wednesday, 10 April after a short illness.

Jerome Thabiso Sachane, manager and promoter of Chane Productions Management in Attridgeville, Tshwane, described the week as one of the saddest in Mzansi.

Describing him as one of South Africa's most popular and famous influencers, he explained that Aus Velemina left his fans in mourning and also left many people affected and speechless as his TikTok videos were viewed over 900k times.

"I came across him on Facebook and saw one of his funniest videos. I sent him a message to ask him to come to the studio and he agreed. He started his career with me and produced the hit Ditshele with King P Ash and Cheese Deep with Lejeje, Caliba and Aus Velemina," Thabiso said.

He said Aus Velemina gained many fans because he could freely improvise jokes both inside and outside the studio while keeping a serious face. He will be best remembered for mixing humour and music as a part-time DJ and being an MC at big events.

Aus Velemina was nominated in the Social Media Personality of the Year category at the 2020 Feather Awards.

"He has helped several associations, corporations, non-governmental organisations, private companies and artists to promote their brands and disseminate sensitive information," said Jerome.

Ronald Ledwaba, a family representative, said the family wanted to mourn their loved one in peace and without media interference.

He said that Aus Velemina was a breadwinner and is survived by his mother, gogo and sister.

"Any floral tributes may be delivered at Mokopane Street in Mamelodi East on Thursday, 18 April between 3pm and 6pm. The burial will take place on Saturday, 20 April at Heatherley Cemetery, Mamelodi East," he said.
