TELENOVELA The Estate is back on our screens for the third season after a two-month production break.
Its return was initially set for Friday, 1 July, but was pushed back to Monday, 18 July, on SABC3 at 7pm.
Writer Bongekile Ndaba shared with Daily Sun that viewers should expect a new family.
“The theme of the telenovela is freedom: always free, and we all know that freedom is not always free.
“So this season will be tackling issues of governance, and a new Xhosa family will be introduced.
“It’s the Nobengela family – the father, mother, their daughter and a son who is still in school,” she said.
Bongekile said they were hoping the new season would open viewers’ eyes and encourage them to participate in the issues Mzansi was facing.

“We have new cast members joining this season. And Sdumo Mtshali, who played Muzi Phakathwayo, has left the show.”
New members joining the show include Dumisani Mbebe, who is best known for his role as Dumisani Shabani on SABC1 soapie Generations, from 2008 till 2011.
Other actors include presenter Lerato Mvelase and Siya Xaba, who is best known for his role as Langa on the Mzansi Magic drama series Gomora, Samke Makhoba, best known for her leading role in MTV Shuga as well as Moopi Mothibeli, who played Smanga on Generations: The Legacy.
The patriarch of the Nobengela family, Melisizwe, will be played by Dumisani. Melisizwe is a businessman and political fixer who is associated with Castro Kamanga.
Then his wife, Noxolo, played by Lerato, is an interior designer and business owner. Moopi will play the role of Mohau Kabi – a smart Bachelor of Science in engineering student.
Bongekile said during their two-month break, they did a lot of writing as the show would be focusing on social realism issues. She further said it was time for young people to rise up.
“We did a lot of writing and when we were creating the characters, we created those that would serve the story. This will focus on social realism issues. It is now the time for young people to rise up for themselves,” she said.
