IT'S been a great few months for young Mzansi songstress, Tyla, and it’s getting even better.
The 21-year-old has been nominated for Best New Artist at the Soul Train Awards in the USA.
This comes as she is making waves and rising on the biggest music charts in the world with her hit song, Water.
Tyla Seethal from Joburg, Gauteng is up against Nigerian superstar, Ayra Starr, who is also one of the rising African stars.
They are nominated alongside Ambre, Coco Jones, Doechii, Flo, Friday and Wanmor.
Nigeria's Burna Boy is also one of the most nominated musicians with four nominations for Best R&B/Soul Male Artist, Album of The Year, Best Collaboration and The Ashford and Simpson Songwriter's Award.

Speaking about the African nominees, Monde Twala, who is senior vice president and general manager at Paramount Africa & Lead BET International, said: "Burna Boy, Ayra Starr and Tyla have been exceptional this year, and their presence on this global stage underlines the transformative impact of African talent on the world of soul music. We are proud to have their craft being recognised on this remarkable platform."
Tyla’s Water recently reached 1,1 billion views on TikTok. She also recently made her USA television debut on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, where she performed Water.
She was chosen as the R&B /Hip Hop Rookie of The Month by Billboard magazine.
The awards will take place in Los Angeles, USA and will be broadcast in Mzansi on Sunday, 27 November on BET Africa (DStv channel 129).
