JUNE 16 is an important and day on Mzansi's calender.

This is why celebrities will be embarking on a charity drive on 16 and 17 June to commemorate the youth of 1976.

Stars such as DJ Mahoota vs Vetkuk, Chris the Billionaire, Boity, Sjuku, TRA and Zola will embark on a Jeep charity ride in Soweto.

Event organiser Vuyo Lumka said this is the only way to celebrate those who have made a difference in their lives.

The businessman from Diepkloof in Soweto said they will give back to the communities during this two-day tour and charity event. He said they will be distributing food hampers and other necessities.

"The Jeep Charity Drive is about remembering the June 16 fallen heroes and this is very close to our hearts because the youth of 76 marched for us so we could graduate and drive the cars we drive today.

"It's a great feeling to put a smile on a child's face and change lives. Charity starts at home, so we are giving back with this tour," he said.

Vuyo said he enjoys helping people in need.

"You do not have to be rich to give back. It's important to give back because more than anything, we give people dignity, self-confidence and self-esteem," he said.

Vuyo said he always strives for change.

"It's the satisfaction of knowing that someone's life has improved and that their future is not determined by circumstances or where they come from," he said.

He said this tour is also about encouraging others not to give up.
