SOCIAL media can make or break a person.
Many celebrities have been slammed and criticised, and while most have grown a thick skin, others are often affected by the negative remarks.
Idol SA's season 19 top four contestant Nkosi Shange said social media had an impact on his performances.
Over the past weeks, judges would comment that he looked like there was something bothering him and that he should believe in himself.
The 29-year-old from Durban said he didn’t think that there would be people saying hurtful things on social media.
“I come from a family with so much love. I didn’t think there will be people on social media who would say hurtful things,” he said.

He said people would say that he didn’t deserve to get as far as he did in the competition.
“I remember this other time I was in the bottom two and one was eliminated while I remained. I remember hearing people saying why did I remain and not the other person. It was just my performance,” he said.
He said he wasn’t used to the hurtful negative remarks.
“Mentally it was a bit challenging, but I told myself that this is a competition and that obviously not everyone is going to love you. I just need to take the good with the bad. I can only grow from that,” he said.
Nkosi said he grew up in church and wants to venture into the gospel industry.
“What I wish to do is gospel, but I also want to branch out to Afro-pop because I realised that I like the music,” he said.
He said he feels good to have been a part of the competition.
“It’s been a long journey and God knows,” he said.
