SINGER Slungesh from Protea Glen in Soweto wants to bring back the love that people used to have for kwaito.

The singer, whose real name is Lunga Shabangu, said he believes that his talent will help him restore the music genre to its former glory.

The singer from Protea Glen, Soweto said he will unite communities.

Slungesh said he was inspired by the late kwaito star Mandoza, Zola and ProKid while growing up and he wants to make them proud by ensuring that the genre does not die.

“I was inspired by their talent and the lessons they shared through their music,” he said.

Slungesh, who started making music in 2006, has worked with the likes of Vetboy, Nkosini, Soweto Mafias, Sims Makoya, Rethabile Khumalo, Mapara A Jazz and Miano.

“Some of my songs were produced by Entity Musiq, DJ Active, Fiso El Musica and Mapara A Jazz.

“Making these songs was a creative and fun journey. journey and fun road,”he said.he hopes his music will comfort those who are going through a lot in their lives.

“My new music offers healing, some lessons and entertainment. It’s all about bringing hope to the masses,” said Slungesh.

He released his latest single titled Lentwe Soh this month.

His other songs include Woza La released in October, followed by Otsotsi Laba in November 2022.

He said this is because he realised that there isn’t hope in black communities anymore.

“People no longer have mercy for one another. So my sound is where it will fit in and bring change in the country,”Slungesh said.

The musician said he worked hard in his music career so that people can get the message behind his songs.

Slungesh said in future, he would like to work with Amaroto, Daliwonga,Young Stunna and others.
