TSHWANE might have lost the likes of DJ Sumbody and recently the King of Bacardi, Vusi Ma R5, but the area still has a lot to offer.

DJ Bullet, real name Kagiso Mashigo (33), and DJ Patlama, real name Thabo Phallane (45), said that they met in 2006 through deejaying.

The Tshwane-based musicians say they are happy to be together.

DJ Bullet from Soshanguve in Tshwane said that playing music in the kasi helped them to grow in the industry.

“The kind of music we both played is what united us.

“We both love deep house and soulful music with a bit of Afro tech and that is the music we produce,” he said.

He said they were inspired by the likes of DJ Christos, Vinny Da Vinci, DJ Ganyani, DJ Fresh, and Oskido.

“We started working together in a production in 2022 and our first single was titled Ngikhethe Wena, featuring Pixie L, which has been received so well on the airwaves.

DJ Bullet said after the single, they started working on their latest album titled Deep House Politics, and that the name was inspired by politics happening in the genre.

“We are trying to spread the message of unity and supporting one another in this genre,” said DJ Bullet.

He said the 10-track album was released in December.

He said on the album they featured up-and-coming vocalists and producers.

The album includes tracks such as Maru featuring Reagile Rey, which is now playlisted on Radio 2000 and it’s played on Metro FM and Motsweding FM.

They said their second single, which they will be promoting is Searching, featuring French August.

“The feedback from the album has been amazing and people love it,” said If we were not musicians, I don’t think we will be anything else because mDJ Bullet.

DJ Patlama said: “We it’s challenging how the music industry works. “ but have been consistent on what we are doing and now we can see the fruit of what we’ve been doing all these years.

“In music, if you don’t have connections and money, it’s very difficult to make it and build your brand,” .

that besides doing music and Deejaying they also help upcoming artists to release their music on digital platforms. “Our plan this year is to promote the songs on the current album and drop an EP later this year, where we will be working with Bob Easy, Playmaster, as well as Smallistic.”

The duo said that they will keep on pushing and representing Pretoria very well.
