SKEEM Saam actress Amanda Manku's father, William (53), will return to court on Thursday, 2 May, with his co-accused, David Khoza.

The two were arrested for the murder of Amanda’s mother (Gladys Manku) and grandmother (Letty Maphothoma), which happened in May 2021.

Wiliam appeared at the Magatle Magistrates Court in February, where he was denied bail.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Limpopo spokeswoman Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, the matter was postponed for the purpose of further investigations.

William was arrested in January with his cop girlfriend, Nonhlanhla Ngubu (42) and alleged hitman David Khoza.

The investigating officer who was cross-examined in court previously said that William had confessed to committing the murder.

“He said that he hired a man who knew other people. They drove with two cars to Limpopo from Gauteng so he could show them where his mother-in-law was staying so they could kill her,” she said.

She said that they returned home, and the men went back to Limpopo on their own to commit the crime.

In an affidavit, William said that he wanted bail so that he could resign from his job as a police officer.

He said that he also wanted to be released so that he could finalise the date for Amanda’s wedding, but the investigating officer mentioned that the two didn’t have a good relationship.

The Makgophong community said they are happy William didn’t get bail.

“Even though his girlfriend is out, we are glad that he is still in,” said community leader Madimetja Matlala.

He said that they are worried about their safety.

“Family members of the girlfriend were taking videos of us in court, and now we see them as a thread. We hope that the police can do something about this because we don’t want our people to be in danger,” he said.
