AWARD-WINNING singer Mbuso Khoza has refuted claims that he will be leading Amabutho (Zulu warriors) during the coronation, marked as entering the cattle kraal of King Misuzulu kaZwelithini on Saturday, 20 August.
This after it was reported that he would be leading the warriors with amahubo (cultural songs).
On Instagram, Khoza said he was invited by Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi as an artist who loved culture and amahubo. He said he was too junior to lead warriors.
“UMntwana (Buthelezi) has never invited me to lead warriors. According to my knowledge, that needs an authorised person who has experience on leading the regiments. This doesn’t work according to fame; it’s respected. I’m invited as an artist who has demonstrated his love for culture,” wrote Khoza.

He said six years ago, he decided to focus on amahubo because he loved his culture, hence the invitation.
King Misuzulu was formerly recognised by President Cyril Ramaphosa in March.
But on Saturday, 13 August, Prince Simakade Zulu was installed as the successor of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini.
