IT’S only been a week since Widows Unveiled premiered on Showmax, but Mzansi is already hooked.

The reality show follows widows of prominent people like Mandoza, Menzi Ngubane, Kebby Maphatsoe, HHP and John Molefe.

The ladies have captured the hearts of Mzansi since the show started airing and cast member, Mpho Tshabalala, spoke to Daily Sun about it.

Mpho was married to Nkalakatha hitmaker, Mduduzi “Mandoza” Tshabalala.

“We're a group of five women who happen to be widows. We're telling our stories and believe that we have different stories even though we have one thing in common. We open up to each other. As widows, we go through various journeys and one of the most difficult ones is the journey of loss, not only the loss of your husband but also the loss of everything you have built.

“I can’t speak for other ladies about why they joined the show, but for me, this is all about giving hope to the next widow or the next woman out there,” she said.

Mpho stars alongside Fundiswa Molefe, Lerato Maphatsoe, Sikelelwa Ngubane and Lerato Sengadi.

“Meeting the ladies was amazing. You think you have a heavy load until you meet other people and hear their stories. Then, you realise that people are really going through a lot and carry heavy loads."

“Our meeting was about loving and uplifting each other. And to say that we may be widows, but we’re still alive, we still groove and do things other women do,” Mpho said.

Last year, Mpho produced a Mandoza biopic and made Mandoza T-shirts which were sold at Mr Price.

She said more is coming from the brand in 2024.

“We're on a countdown for Nkalakatha turning 25. There’s a musical coming in memory of Mandoza and the song. A lot more is coming from the brand,” Mpho said.
