MATHUTO Masego Seoe uses her voice to motivate others!

But getting into radio was not an easy journey for the presenter from Katlehong in Ekurhuleni, who is better known as Sego.

In 2018, she went to every radio station she could think of to submit her demo tapes, but she was not successful.

“During the Covid-19 pandemic, that’s when I started taking voice recordings of myself again.

“This is after I listened to voice-over coaches on YouTube,” she said.

The presenter said she learnt how to control her voice and tone.

“Social media also helped me to get into online radio stations.

“I met Ursula Mariani when she needed a news presenter for TransAfrica Radio (audio channel 872 on DStv).

“During that time, I was a presenter at an online radio station called Cobra Tycoon,” she said.

Sego said she got the opportunity to be a news anchor on Breakfast with Ursh on Trans Africa.

“In 2020, I enrolled at Boston Media House to study Media Practice where I also learnt the business side of radio.”

The presenter said that’s where her love for radio grew and learning all the professional techniques and radio language started.

“My first inspiration was Bonang Matheba while she was doing Campus radio hence when I got to Boston Media House. I made sure I am part of the campus radio team as a presenter and part of the content production team,”she said.

“As much as I loving finding out what is currently happening around me, abroad and what is currently trending. I also love hearing from my listeners,”she said.

Sego said she loves hearing what her listeners think about current affairs and to hear about them.

“Nothing matters to me most the hearing about what the person on the other end of this medium has to say. I always say when I’m on air that as much I present on radio I’m also a listener,”Sego said.

The presenter said she is now well equipped and knows the ins and outs of the enteryaiment industry.
