RISING maskandi singer Mzobe has moved from trending on social media to making waves in the real world.
His single, Thina Mabhinca, trended on social media for months and is now a favourite on the streets.
The song became popular before he released it and when he finally released it in August, it became an instant hit with people outside of social media.

The singer, whose real name is Ntethelelo Khanyisani Mzobe, is also a taxi driver who works in Durban, KZN.
“The song started trending on social media platforms, especially TikTok, because of the dance that we do alongside the song.
“We decided to finally release it and people on the streets loved it even more,” he said.
“I worked with people who are quite known in the maskandi world.
“I co-wrote it with Mtsheleni ‘Mamillion’ Mabaso.
“Mamillion also co-produced it with Spheh Khanyile,” he continued.
He said the song is meant to bring unity among amabhinca.
“The aim of this song was really to bring unity among us as amabhinca.
“It was also just to raise our names and genre so that people understand and respect us.
“I’m so happy because I think the goal was reached, in terms of people understanding who we are.The way people are responding to it,I see people are getting it and they love the song.
“Some even say they hope it becomes the song of the year,” he said.
Mzobe said he is proud of what he has achieved.
“This is my debut single and it has already done so well.
“Just a few months ago, I was just a taxi driver, now I’m a famous and loved maskandi singer.
“The song is already playing on commercial radio stations too, which is a big deal,” he said.

He is also set to drop his debut EP and he’ll use it to tackle social ills and heal people.
“This EP is a mixture of afro-pop and maskandi, so people who like those genres will enjoy it. I believe I was born to heal and teach people through my music. I also believe I should be fighting the things that people face through my songs and that’s exactly what I’ll do,” he said.
