A DARK cloud seems to hang over Soshanguve’s popular club, MacNose Cafe.
Less than a month after it was robbed, it has now been scammed.
They were due to host Mafikizolo and Vusi Nova on Sunday, 3 April but had to call the gig off.
The club released a statement that a certain man had scammed the facility.
The club’s manager told Daily Sun that a month ago a man approached them with a promise to bring Nasty C for R25 000.
“We decided to give it a try. We asked him to ask Nasty to send a video stating he’ll be performing here and he did,” said the manager.
“As promised, Nasty performed. Now that we had built a relationship with him, we started working with him.”
The manager added that the scammer then promised to bring them DBN Gogo and Uncle Waffles for R25 000.

“DBN Gogo and Waffles performed on 27 March but days later, they said they didn’t get paid,” said the manager.
However, they said they weren’t worried because they had a good relationship with us.”
They found out that the man had already scammed Mafikizolo and Vusi Nova of R20 000.
We only realised what had happened when Mafikizolo’s manager called us. We called to find out if they were coming but their manager said they hadn’t been paid,” said the manager.
“The manager told us that Mafikizolo charges R70 000, not R20 000 so they are waiting for the full payment. We then figured out what was going on. We saw that DBN Gogo and Uncle Waffles weren’t paid either and then we were promised Mafikizolo and Vusi at R20 000. We saw that we were scammed,” he said.
The alleged scammer is still on the loose.
“When we asked around, we were told this is what he does. He’s got many names. We are not sure what his real name is. We haven’t been able to locate him, but we’ve advised the musicians who were affected by this scam to open cases,” said the manager.
When asked if he believed the club is cursed he said, no.
“The club is not cursed. Bad things happen. There’s no curse or dark cloud over the club,” he said.
