RAPPER K.O feels blessed to be nominated for his first BET Award as a solo artist.
The Sete hitmaker is nominated for Best International Act alongside some of the world’s biggest stars such as Nigeria’s Burna Boy and Ayra Starr, UK’s Stormzy and Ella Mai, Aya Nakamura and Tiakola from France, as well as Eswatini’s Uncle Waffles.
Speaking to Daily Sun, K.O (42), whose real name is Ntokozo Mdluli, said the last time he felt this way was when his former group, Teargas, was nominated for a BET Award.
“It’s a total honour. The first time I got this type of thrill was during Teargas’ nomination, which was over 10 years ago in 2011. We went to Los Angeles for the first time to attend the awards. Getting an opportunity to go through that experience was great. And now I’m going there as a solo artist,” he said.
The rapper said this nomination came at the right time as he’s trying to make a name for himself abroad.

“For me, it’s more so about setting an example to fellow artists about longevity, never giving up and putting God first. Also, work as hard as you possibly can. The results will always show.
“It’s an opportune time for me to go and mingle with the international community, especially when I’m intentionally working on my international presence. I’m grateful,” he said.
K.O also thanked fellow musicians Young Stunna and Blxckie for working on his hit, Sete.
“One of the major factors this is happening is because of the song Sete, so I want to thank Young Stunna and Blxckie for their major role in the creation of this entire motion,” said the rapper.
Amapiano musician Pabi Cooper has also been nominated for Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act in the BET Awards.
