REAL Housewives of Durban star Nonku Williams doesn’t just thrive on drama, she’s also dedicated to helping the less fortunate.
She paired up with her castmate Calvin Robinson, the husband of Jojo Robinson, to hand over houses to nine families in Umgababa, KZN, on Friday 10 February. Speaking to Daily Sun, she said: “I own a construction company called Lukuye Development Projects and we usually build homes.
“A while ago, I came across a family in a dire state. Their story touched me. Their home caught fire and the only survivors were the kids. They were living in a one-roomed house.
“The eldest had to drop out of school and get odd jobs to support his siblings. When I heard of them, I thought to myself that I don’t have everything but I have the means to help them.”
Nonku said she then decided to look for more families to help.

“I asked Councillor Mgobhozi from the community to help and we found eight more families.
“The houses were built in two weeks and we also got some furniture.”
“The day before, I contacted Calvin and asked him to participate in this initiative and he did not waste any time. He gave them meat packs from his company Bluff Meats.”

Nonku urged people to join her to help others, saying it was a humbling experience.
“The glory doesn’t come to me but to God. Why should another human live in a degrading situation when there are people that can help out? I’m grateful to people like Calvin who jump in to help at the last minute,” she said.
“A gogo we helped said she didn’t remember the last time she had meat. I’m appealing to people out there to do more.”
Beneficiary Sfundo Vilakazi said: “We’d like to thank sis Nonku for the house they built for us. We’d also like to thank Mr Calvin from Bluff Meat for the meat he’s given to us.”
