POET and singer Jessica Mbangeni has advised up-and-coming stars to venture into other aspects of the entertainment industry to make extra cash.
She also encouraged talented young people to never lose hope.
Talking to Daily Sun about her journey, Jessica said there were times when she asked herself why she became a poet it isn't as easy to do.
"If it was my wish, I would have chosen acting as they are rated highly unlike poets as I have to tap into my spirit. I wish young poets could be given a chance to showcase their skills in the mainstream media. I wish the industry can be welcoming to us, be it young or old.
"I plead with the nation to give young poets a chance so they can be seen and heard. This is my wish for them as they are good and are ready to be heard," she said.
Jessica said this would be a dream come true for her as she would have opened doors for others like those who came before her.

Her message to up-and-coming poets is they must expand their talent. She said it's important for them to also learn how to act or penetrate mainstream media.
Jessica said they must always be humble and learn to be disciplined.
