TWO months ago, the organisers of the DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival promised an improved and stress-free event in 2023 and they delivered.
In 2022, the festival had received poor reviews. Visitors complained about the queues to get in, the lines to get food and that they had difficulty buying anything because of the system that was used.
But in 2023 they received good reviews. The festival was held on 23 and 24 September at the Kyalami Grand Prix in Midrand, Gauteng. Daily Sun spoke to participants who were happy that everything went smoothly.
This year the festival was headlined by Zakes Bantwini, American singer Maxwell, Nigerian singer Tems and other musicians such as Morda, Oscar Mbo, Myztro and DJ Maphorisa, who also performed on stage.
Former Generations actress and Ukhozi FM presenter Zama Ngcobo said she was sceptical about attending but enjoyed it.
"This is my first time at the festival. I am a newcomer, but I had a fantastic time. I enjoyed watching Lamiez. She was fantastic. Unfortunately, I missed Ringo, but I was most looking forward to seeing Tems. She is the reason I came to the festival," she said.

Miseducation actress Buntu Petse said she had the time of her life and was happy to see Nigerian superstar Tems.
“I had so much fun. DStv pulled out all the stops. I had fun as soon as I arrived at the festival. I knew I was going to have way too much fun when two to three hours had passed and I did. I was looking forward to Tems. This is the second time I’ve seen her and I was very happy,” she said.
Friends Lebo Mabeba and Reabetswe from Tshwane said they enjoyed the meal very much.
“We are so excited. It was great. Getting into the venue was not a big administrative hassle. It was really smooth, and the atmosphere was electrifying. You can tell everyone had a great time.
“We had Korean BBQ. I’m a big fan of Korean food so we had some wings, rice and salad,” they said.
Friends Nontuli Moalusi and Khumo Seepamore said they enjoyed the drinks and the music.
“We have attended the festival five times and it is a great experience. We have enjoyed the drinks and the 360 stalls. The drinks were great. We really loved them. We were there for Tems, Morda, and Oscar Mbo. We have seen Zakes Bantwini many times. We think we are qualified to be his friends because we have seen him many times,” they said.
