VUYO “VEE” KOBO is gatvol of celebrities who take his money and don’t show up for gigs.
“They book shows to perform at the club but then they just don’t show up,” he said.
"They have ruined my club because of their empty promises!"
Vee, a local pub owner from Wolmaransstad in the North West, said his customers are angry with him and accuse him of using celebs’ faces to promote his establishment without booking them.
He said he booked Oratile Maitisa, who plays Eunice on Skeem Saam for a show called Situation Night on 30 April, but she didn’t pitch.
He said she then promised to come on 10 September and once again, she didn’t arrive.
She was paid R3 000 and R5 000 for her appearance.
Singer Presss Sihlangu was paid R10 000 of the R15 000 he charged for a Sunday Soul Session that took place on 18 September, but he didn’t show up.
The organiser said the hitmaker of Thojane Ya Thesele said he was on his way during the day of the event, but he didn’t arrive.
Vee said both Presss and Oratile don’t want to return his money.
“Our pub, The Vee Lifestyle, has been affected by this in a bad way.
“We had been delivering nothing but the best entertainment in Wolmaransstad,” said Vee.
“Our pub was having great support from the local people but ever since Oratile failed to pitch up twice, people have lost their faith in us.”
He said when he got Zodwa for a booking, his faith was restored but only to be disappointed again.

“Zodwa said she will come to The Vee Lifestyle, and she was given R30 000. But her fans were left stranded on 17 September for a show called All White Colour Splash.
“We no longer have patrons because they see us as scammers. No matter how much we try to get them back, they no longer have faith in us,” he said.
Vee said the pub was launched on 16 April this year.
“As a professional actor and someone who has been in the entertainment industry since 2015, I’ve made friendships with many people in the industry. That’s how I hook up with celebrities,” he said.
“What I’ve realised is that they take advantage of the fact that the pub is based in a small town in North West.”
Zodwa Wabantu said she knows Vee Kobo well.
“I will see what we can do with this matter. Yes, I didn’t go to the show.”
Presss said he received the money. “He paid me the deposit but I won’t give it back as they postponed the show during the week. I was ready for them,” he said.
Oratile said she paid the money back last month.
“I’m sorry we had a funeral at home. But I gave him what belongs to him,” she said.
