AMAPIANO producer and DJ, Peezo, has won young South Africans’ hearts.

The 29-year-old from Tembisa, Ekurhuleni, told SunBuzz that he’s known by young people for making rhythmic dance music.

“This has been my signature since I started making music,” he said.

Due to his love of music, which began at an early age of 13, he decided to become a DJ.

“I fell in love with house music because I was always around people who used to listen to music a lot.

“At a later stage, I ventured into the deejaying space,” he said.

DJ Peezo, whose real name is Sphiwe Nkabinde, said he also learnt how young people follow trends and new sound.

He said that’s when he started making music for them.

He said for his name to grow, he started hosting events in Tembisa.

DJ Peezo said he was inspired by DJs Shimza and Kent.

“Their deejaying skills used to fascinate me a lot, and I ended up learning how to DJ as well.

“I wanted to be like them,” he said.

His musical talent and skills on the DJ console saw him being on the decks at Sipho’s Cabin.

He said this is where he started learning how to play and ended up being a resident DJ.

Being able to switch between different genres of music made him a fan favourite.
