THREEWAY reality stars Professor "Velvet" Bhengu (34) Mandla Shongwe (33) and Nompumelelo Nkosi (27) are breaking stereotypes.

Velvet and Mandla are dating and they are openly bisexual, while Nompumelelo is a lesbian.

The three of them have a child together and they are co-parenting.

Velvet told Daily Sun that the five-month-old baby has two fathers and one mother.

“Eventually our child will have two fathers and two mothers. That is if Nompumelelo gets a partner,” said Velvet.

“I’ve been dating Mandla for almost three years now and we currently have a five-year-old baby. Since we are both men, we had to find a woman who would fall pregnant for us. Fortunately, we found Nompumelelo and she was not just willing, but she was ready to have a child,” explained Velvet.

“There was no sexual intercourse, but I managed to impregnate her through home insemination. This means I had to get my sperm inside her uterus without sexual intercourse. In our case, I used a syringe and withdrew my sperm. I then inseminate the sperm inside her using the syringe. It was quick and effective because we only did it once and she fell pregnant,” said Velvet.

Today, he is a proud father of a five-month-old baby.

“I am glad we did it. I am now a proud father and all of us are co-parenting. I know a lot of people will frown upon this, but it’s the best decision we made and we are happy with it,” he said.

He said the show will teach people that anyone can start a family and be a parent.

“I know and understand that most people are not used to insemination, and I am happy that viewers will get to learn from us. There is also nothing new in what we’re doing. People have been doing it for ages and we're just bringing it in the open,” he said.

Nompumelelo said she is happy with her decision because it’s what she wanted.

"For now the baby is living with me, but we are co-parenting. I think the viewers will a learn a lot from our story,” she said.

Threeway premiered on DSTV Channel 157 on Saturday, 15 April.
