It’s only a few days until the Joburg Film Festival premieres, and more than 60 films will be screened over the two weeks.
The opening film, XALE, will be shown on Tuesday, 31 January, at the launch which will be held at the Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, Joburg.
The film follows the life of Awa, a 15-year-old African schoolgirl who is happily living her teenage years alongside her twin brother Adama, who dreams of Europe.
The Senegalese feature immerses the viewer into a storyline of family values, love, life and betrayal.
Joburg Film Festival will take place at the Ster-Kinekor at Sandton City Mall and Maponya Mall in Soweto, Cinema Nouveau Rosebank at Rosebank Mall, The Bioscope at Maboneng, and Theatre on the Square at the Nelson Mandela Square from 31 January and 5 February.

More than 60 films from Tunisia, Brazil, Seoul, Brazil, USA, Japan, Morocco, Kenya, Senegal and other countries will be showcased.
